Hike ‘N Paddle

Designed for children ages 8-12, more than 1,000 have participated in this centerpiece program.

The experience connects youths of diverse backgrounds to each other and the environment through hands-on exploration.

KAYAKING EXCURSIONS

Beginner-friendly kayaking sessions on local lakes to build confidence on the water.

Apprehension at the beginning quickly evolves into excitement with each stroke of their paddle.

Experienced kayakers act as water marshals to ensure safety and provide hands-on paddling instruction.

NATURALIST LED HIKES

Exploring local trails with naturalists or park rangers to identify and learn more about wildlife, native flora and fauna.

The up-close, engaging experience emphasizes their responsibilities as stewards of the environment.

ART IN NATURE

Through water coloring and tie-dye using natural materials, children learn to creatively express their connection to the environment.

Under the nurturing direction of a professional instructor the participants, many of whom felt they had little creativity, are often surprised at the quality art they produce.

LEAVE NO TRACE EDUCATION

We instill sustainable outdoor practices by teaching the Leave No Trace “7 Principles,” designed to minimize human impact on the environment.

Youths are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors responsibly while protecting ecosystems, wildlife and natural landscapes for future generations.

Every participant also receives a durable reference card and a reusable water bottle to take home.

CHEF PREPARED MEALS

We enjoy group meals partially sourced from local farmers.

Our chef shares the story of the food – explaining why local sourcing is better for our bodies and the planet.

Afterward, participants learn to manage waste using our Mobile Recycling Station, an educational tool to reinforce the differences between Trash, Compost and Recycle.
